Key Stage 3  (Programme Of Study)

Physical Education is a compulsory subject taken by all pupils in the school. In year 7 the pupils will study the following activities: gymnastics, badminton, orienteering, swimming, athletics and tennis. The boys will also take football, rugby and cricket, while the girls will study netball, hockey and rounders. There are sports clubs and teams in many activities and the pupils can take part at lunch times or after school.

 

In Year Eight, pupils will take part in the following activities: gymnastics, orienteering, badminton, athletics, tennis and football. Boys will also take rugby and cricket, while girls will study netball, hockey and rounders. There are sports clubs and teams in many of the activities which are available to the pupils at lunch-times or after school.

 

In Year 9 the pupils will study the following activities: tennis, badminton, volleyball, football and athletics. The boys will also take rugby and cricket, while the girls will study netball, hockey and rounders. Key Stage 4  (Programme Of Study)

In Years 10 and 11 students follow a "guided options" programme. This is designed to give the students a degree of choice in selecting areas of work. The aim of each option will be to consolidate and improve existing skills and to develop further knowledge and understanding of rules, tactics and safety. There is an emphasis on physical education and enjoyment as an important aspect of life.
