Uniform and PE Uniform

Kingsmead Technology College operates a uniform for its pupils. This is for the following reasons:

  • so that pupils wear suitable clothing for school work
  • so that parents can dress their children healthily and economically in the years of speedy growth;
  • so that all pupils develop a sense of identity with the College.

Uniform

We expect students to wear:

  • Kingsmead tie
  • Straight black tailored trousers (not hipsters or jeans) /skirt (knee-length)
  • Plain white shirt, with a collar capable of taking a tie (not casual or ‘polo’ shirt) long enough to be tucked in trousers or skirt)
  • A black blazer with a college badge
  • Plain black shoes with low heels (no coloured logos or laces)
  • Plain socks (not brightly coloured)

They may also choose to wear:

  • Black plain V-necked jumper, or waist length cardigan (buttons - no zips). A jumper is not a substitute for a blazer

We don’t expect students to wear:

  • False nails or nail extensions
  • Make-up or nail polish in Year 7 to 9 (Discreet make-up is allowed for Year 10 and 11 pupils)
  • Visible body piercings
  • Jewellery - no more than: wrist watch; one plain ring; one pair of ear studs (not rings, one in each lobe)
  • Fashion belts - belts should be plain black, worn through belt loops (large buckles are not acceptable)

Whilst there is a need for appropriate coats and other outer garments in cold and wet weather, these should not be worn under blazers or instead of them.

Note: Artificial hair colours should be of a natural shade only. No extreme hairstyles.

It is important that all students maintain high standards in personal dress at all times.
