Coursework and Homework
All pupils in Year 10 have an organiser and should be recording all their homework in it. You can help your son or daughter by encouraging them to use their organiser to plan their time effectively to meet homework and coursework deadlines.Whilst many students are very organised about completing homework, a significant proportion are not, and are failing to complete all their homework as a result.
Coursework at GCSE
Most of the GCSE courses that your child is following will involve the completion of coursework. In many cases, this will be worth up to 60% of the final mark.
It would be appreciated if parents and guardians would encourage their child to get started with coursework as soon as it is set, and seek help from their teachers if they are unsure how to complete it.
Some students can experience difficulties completing coursework to a standard that reflects their full potential. This is often because coursework is completed at the last minute, and a first draft ends up being the final draft!
We would encourage students to take full advantage of the opportunities available at Kingsmead. Homework support is available each lunchtime including all ICT facilities. The College is also open between 10.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. each Saturday. Students from all years use the facility to gain help with their homework and coursework.
Please find attached details of the coursework requirements for Year 10 and Year 11.
