Year 7 - The ICI Year
Year 7 – the ‘growing up’ year. It’s that crucial milestone in the lives of young people, which all of us remember so clearly! When we moved on from being such ‘big’ fish in a small school – to being such small fish in a big pool, and indeed, all that we as a school do in this ‘pivotal’ year is done with this important transition in mind. Three key words that define the year are: INDUCTION – are our students settled? familiar with premises and routines? happy and on task? It’s about making sure they ‘know the ropes’ and overcome their fears. CHALLENGE – are they working purposefully?... setting targets?... achieving goals?...pushing themselves to do their very best? INTEGRATION – have they fully identified with the wider life of the school? are they involved in sport? music? drama?...what clubs have they joined?...what trips are they going on? are they grabbing with both hands the opportunities which Kingsmead offers?
